Make Room for Growth

A few weeks ago I was given a project: Create a moodboard in Pinterest that reflects your business.

So I went to the board. I typed in things like ‘real life women moving their bodies’. I looked for fonts that felt coastal yet grounded. I saved colors & typefaces that spoke to me. Screen shots of vibes still shots. Waves, retreats, skate. & I saved plenty of lifestyle photos of ‘mothers in real life’ - but I have to be honest - almost none of them fully spoke to me or encapsulated what I was looking for. Beautiful pictures, yes. But unless your daily mothering looks like matching outfits, a cute linen dress, & a relietely clean sink, they just weren’t the real life images I was looking for.

So I decided to create them. the messy. the mundane. the real life. the house you want to look perfect but it never does, and in this season, it never will. modern mothering looks different than years past. maybe we let the dishes sit in the sink longer so we sit and watch bluey with the kids. maybe the laundry piles up while we head out for another full day at the beach. maybe the house is always half done because both parents are working and no one has time or the energy to do a full sweep. these images encapsulate that. real life, not staged, as is, bearing my messy for the whole world to see. its not comfortable, but neither is every moment of motherhood, or trying to make this all work. I hope you can see your own life in these photos. feel free to ‘save’ to your moodboard when you are looking for photos to encapsulate the messy, mundane, modern mothering that I was looking for, too.
